Selena Gomez Alter Ego Hair and Makeup Tutorial

From the first time I saw this video I was mesmerized by Selena's fun personality and sense of humor! Here I re-created her alter ego look after a quick run to the thrift store for a flannel button up and bandana (only costing me $5 total).

What I used need

Makeup

Hair:

- Hot rollers (you can use a curling iron)

The hair was simple. I heated my hair with hot rollers. Don't know how? Here is a simple hair tutorial. After applying rollers, allow them to cool down for at least 15 minutes. Remove the rollers and start rolling about 4 sections of hair in the front, setting it in place with bobbi pins. Bring the rest of your hair up to a high ponytail. Wrap your ponytail into a loose bun (to allow volume) and pin in place.

Once your hair and makeup is done, just accessorize with a button up flannel, hoop earrings, a bandana, and loose jeans!

Mom's Easy Enchiladas!

What you'll need

- 3 tablespoon of EVOO

- 1 head of garlic

- half of one red onion

- 1 lb shredded chicken

- 1 can of tomato sauce

- 1 can enchilada sauce

- handful of olives

- 1 cup red and green bell peppers

- pinch of black pepper

- 3 eggs

- 1 cup mexican blend shredded cheese

- flour tortilla

Since the enchiladas and hearty, try having it with a side salad instead of rice! Add a dollop of sour cream and avocados for extra deliciousness... NOM NOM NOM!!!!

Easy Top Knot Hair Tutorial Inspired by Kourtney Kardashian

Step 1: Bring your hair up to a high ponytail. On the last loop, only allow a small section through without pulling all the way (creating a small loop).

Step 2: Wrap the remaining hair around the base of your ponytail and bobbi pin in place

Step 3: Fan out your loop manipulate your hair shape. bobbi pin in place.

Step 4: Smooth out your hair with hair gel and secure your top knot with hair spray.

Back to Basics: Hot Rollers

Hot rollers are one of the easiest ways to curl your hair with little time and effort. I use conair jumbo hot rollers which I got from Walmart for about $30.00. It comes with 4 super jumbo (1 3/4 inches) and 8 jumbo (1 1/2 inches ) hot rollers, along with hair pins to set in place.

I start off by plugging in the rollers and allowing it to heat up for about 10 minutes. I take the super jumbo size roller and use them at the top of my head. Its easier to wrap your hair starting in the middle rather than the end, that way you get a tight grip and prevents your hair from slipping out. I prefer curling away from the face.

I used three of the super jumbo rollers at the top, and the rest of the jumbo rollers everywhere else. Watch the video below to see where I position the rollers. Once all are in, allow the rollers to cool down (the longer, the better!) I gave my hair 20 minutes before removing the rollers.

I run my fingers through my hair to loosen up the curls and finish off the look with Loreal paris Elnett hairspray. Elnett is perfect for soft curls cause it doesn't stiffen your hair or make it flake.

Heatless Curls with Sponge Rods

Remember those pink sponge rollers your mom used on your when you were a kid? Those didn't go too well for me. The plastic clips always fell out during my sleep, leaving random odd shaped curls throughout my hair. Thankfully I discovered sponge rods! I've seen them at beauty stores and even drugstores. The ones I bought are 15mm Hot Tools. Eight dollars for 10 rods. They're a little thicker than the ones i've seen at my local walmart.

They're very simple to use. I applied a curling mousse to my clean damp hair before curling. I sectioned off my hair (as usual when curling) and took about 2 inch sections. Starting at my ends, I wrapped my hair around the middle of the rods and rolled it up. Secure the rod by folding in the ends.

It was surprisingly comfortable sleeping in the curlers. It didn't pull my hair while I moved, they were really flexible. After about 8 hours, the rollers were still in the same place.

To remove the rollers, simply unfold the rods and twirl them out rather than pull them out. Don't be alarmed when you end up looking like a curly sue.

After gently running my fingers through my hair and some hair styling oil, here's how the final look turned out.

Last week my mom asked me to pick up her prescription at RiteAid and of course her prescription wasn't ready. What else to do but roam around and spend my money foolishly :/ So as I'm walking around I noticed Revlon was having a buy one get one half off deal, including a $4 up reward for spending $10! Here's what I bought from Revlon.

I'm always on the look out for the perfect brow powder... and I think i've found it! Lately i've been using MAC's espresso eye shadow, but after watching Nymphette's video I was sold on Wet n Wild's brow powder. Its only a few bucks at the drugstore too, Score! I use the lighter brown shade with just flat angled brow brush.

This blush caught my attention. It must be the color combination, I love how neutral the colors are with a subtle glow. Although there was no discount deal, I figure it was worth trying and reviewing.

Lastly, I was at target to buy some BioSilk hair oil. The past few months i've been using argon oils and Moroccan oils, but none compares to my favorite BioSilk. Luckily I found the best deal of the hair oil, shampoo, and conditioner for only $25!

Lip Tattoos, say Whaa?!

Temporary tattoos, who hasn't tried them as a child? I remember my mom buying them for me from the dollar store. I thought I was the coolest kid in town with a heart tattoo plastered on my arm. Would you believe there is actually temporary tattoos for your lips?! Interesting, yeah?

I saw these for the first time this past June at IMATS LA. I was tempted to buy it, but came to the conclusion that it wasn't very practical for me. Just recently I ran across it during an ULTA run, and figured it wouldn't hurt to do a review.

So here it is, my initial thoughts and review on the Violent Lips lip tattoos. They are $15 for 3 pairs of the same pattern. I chose the pink leopard print because it reminded me of my favorite childhood icon... Lisa Frank!

The process was pretty easy. You'll need some water, cotton balls, and scissors. Its basically the same steps to applying a regular temporary tattoo, except the only difference is shaping it to your lip shape. There are dotted lines to help with the shaping. Its simple and straight forward. Heres how the finished look turned out.

It felt awkward and uncomfortable. An hour in my lips felt painfully dry whenever I smiled or laughed. I applied lip balm which helped temporarily. The brand claims that the lip tattoos last from 4 to 6 hours. I believe this to be true as long as you're eating dry foods. I had soup for dinner and tattoo from my bottom lip was fading away. The moisture from my outer lips also contributed to the fading of the outer corners. I updated back 5 hours later and here is how my lips turned out.

5 hours after application

Over all, I thought the product was good. Its unique and fun to try, but not something I would wear every weekend, or let alone every month. However, its ideal to wear at a Lady Gaga concert, if anything! Quality wise, its alight. I paid $15 for 3 lip tattoos. I wouldn't buy these again in the future, but I admit it is fun to say I've once had a lip tattoo!

Finding the Right Bridesmaid Dress!!!

As my cousin Ate Anne said, its the "Say Yes to the Dress - Bridesmaid edition!" I had so much fun with this Alfred Angelo fitting, and I hope the girls did too :) I was lucky enough to have all my bridesmaids available, and to get their input in helping me decide which dress to pick. Its hard to decide especially when the sample dresses aren't the colors of my choice, which is violet. Shannon and Chris, the stylists, pointed us to the direction of what kind of dress I was looking for. We narrowed it down to six different styles. Please excuse the photo quality, I took screen shots of the video (which will be posted below)

Dress #1

First dress is a beautiful flowing chiffon dress. It has the layering A line at the bottom. However I didn't like how low it came on the bust.

Dress #2

The second just doesn't scream bridesmaid to me. Its too simple, and the bow on the side looked a little off. Doesn't it look more like a cocktail kind of dress?

Dress #3

Again, another cocktail looking dress. Its simple, yet I love how it accentuates the bust ;)

Dress #4

Forth dress was a definite favorite amongst all of us! Its a one strap with flowers and free flowing. At first glance of it on the hanger I thought it was hideous, but to my surprise its beautiful on!

Dress #5

Fifth dress was also gorgeous! I like that its a halter top, but doesn't expose too much of the bust. It fit so well on the girls. This dress was in my top 3.

Dress #6

Sixth dress is a halter top (like i initially wanted.) It gathers around the waist and has the ribbon, which is probably the most flattering on everyone.

It was definitely hard to choose between dress # 4,5, and 6. Can you guess which dress I chose? I which one is your favorite?!

Last week I was given a fun opportunity to shop Croc's new translucent line, and find outfits to go with it! One of the best parts... it was in Miami! I think I just about died and gone to heaven ;) At first I read the email headlining crocs. I wasn't too excited because the signature crocs style doesn't interest me. Then I saw photos of the new style and jumped right on it! Let me tell you, you wouldn't know a comfortable shoe until you try one. I thought I knew what comfortable felt like, but now I KNOW what comfortable is. I think crocs has changed my life!

Searching for my Wedding Gown!

This is one of the more emotional steps to planning our wedding... finding the perfect wedding dress! I brought my mom and bridesmaid Celisse to come along with me to Alfred Angelo on this special day! I couldn't be more grateful for this wonderful opportunity!

We arrived to Alfred Angelo early at 8:30AM. We had to come early before they opened in order to film comfortably. Chris and Shannon were so helpful, it made the whole experience stress free. To be honest, I was so nervous to try on these dresses, but you can tell I warmed up after the first few. My friend and Mom were very shy, they're so cute! Celisse said she wished we opened the bottle of champagne before hand. lol

Dress #1 felt overwhelming with all the boob action. The dress was a larger size, so Shannon added the pins to adjust to fit me. I could imagine it to look great on someone who doesn't have a full bust. Dress #2 had a beautiful corset top, but overall it was too frilly for me. Dress #3 was one of my top picks! I think I fell in love because it was the perfect fit for me, literally! Contoured to my body so well. It was a total fit and flair. and did you see that cute "whip creme" bottom? ADORABLE! The sweetheart neckline with jewels were so beautiful. Dress #4 is the Ariel dress from their Disney collection. It was the first dress that caught my attention to Alfred Angelo. I still think it's beautiful, just not for me. Its interesting how I felt like it was "the dress" from looking at it on the internet, but you'll never know til you try it on. Dress #5 is Mom's pick! Its a gorgeous dress that fit me perfectly. Sweet, fitted on top, and flared out in layers. I love how light weight it is too! She was quite persistent that I choose that one. I kept in mind that I respect my mom's wishes, yet I reminded myself that it is my wedding ;) Dress #6 was a complete no-go for me. It look like a barbie prom dress! Although I did love the convertible aspect of it. It would be the perfect reception dress! Dress #7 didn't catch my interest what so ever. My mom bluntly agreed as well. lol! With dress #8, I felt the same way. In the end, I narrowed down my favorite dresses to be #3 and #5. Which one is your favorite?

Unfortunately, I won't reveal my final pick until our wedding! Sorry to leave you all in suspense, but I can't have Benji figuring out which one I choose. Which, by the way I made him promise me to never to watch this video anytime before our wedding! Although, he's aloud to "listen" as many times as he pleases.

I've noticed the Maybelline Fit Me foundation all over magazines and google ads; their campaign definitely caught my attention! After several requests from my facebook for a review, I finally went out and got one. My skin type is oily combination. Here are my thoughts.

The first thing that caught my attention was the sleek packaging. It looks like something you'd see with high end cosmetics. However, at the same time it fails in packaging. There is no pump, making it difficult to apply. When I apply it on my face, the consistency is very light and smooth. One layer provides light coverage, but helps even out skin tone and gives a dewy finish. Two layers provides light-medium coverage and an every dewyer finish. This product is not ideal for oily skin, for it can make that personal more oily throughout the day. Since I have oily combination skin, I always set with powder which helps the foundation lasts longer. This product is moisturizing, gives a dewy finish, and has light to medium coverage. This is another look requested on my facebook page. I was hesitant on doing the hair tutorial because I don't have the layers Jennifer has, but I substituted by flaring my hair outwards with a flat iron. Jennifer's look is very bronze and sensuous. I went for bronze on the eyes, long false lashes, and neutral-mauve lips. If you want to go more dramatic on the eyes, you can add some false lashes to the lower lash line as well. Enjoy!

My Hair Care Routine

I take care of my hair as if it were my baby, but call me thrifty cause I never go to the salon to treat my hair. Instead I found a few drugstore products that work great for me! They're affordable, yet the quality is comparable to salons. Here's what I've been using lately and loving.

Sulfate-free, meaning it doesn't strip your hair of natural oils nor does it leave your scalp dry. The scent is absolutely beautiful, and the feeling is invigorating. I was just at target and they retailed for $5.99 each. Definitely a must try!

For years and years I had the same leave-in conditioner, which had been discontinued :( Lets not mention the brand I had just about gotten over it, lol. Thank goodness for Aveeno which is now my new favorite :) I sprits all over my damp hair. The wheat complex keeps my hair moisturized throughout the day. I remember watching Ellen and one of her beauty tips is soaking your hair in beer. Now this is a better alternative. lol

Finally, a product for girls that refuse to cut their hair! I use this hair lotion once a week to my ends. A little goes a long way.

Clip-on Hair Bangs/ Fringe

I've always wanted bangs, but I never had the guts to actually get them! I've done a few tricks to fake a fringe, but this has to be the most natural looking without cutting my hair.

I use the Jessica Simpson Hair-do Clip-on bangs. Voguewigs.com gave me the opportunity to try it the first time. I tried it in midnight brown, which was a tad lighter than my natural hair color. The second time around I bought it in Ebony, which matches perfect! They're simple to apply. Clip the bottom two clips first, then pull back and clip the top.

These may not blend in at first. Heres how they look when you clip them on .

The key is teasing!

I tease around the crown area to give my hair some volume. The fringe blends in instantly!

Struggling with Chapped Lips?

Chapped lips seemed to creep up on me when I got back from Vacation. I went from 80 degree to 35 degree weather. I can use multiple layers of chapstick, but it doesn't seem to be enough for me. My best solution was exfoliating that dead skin.

I use the sugar lip scrub from Senna Cosmetics. Its removes the dead skin while conditioning your lips at the same time.

I scoop a pea size amount and rub the scrub back and forth on my lips. I don't mind the scent or taste. Smells sweet and taste like sugar!

I wiped the scrub off with a wash cloth and ta-da! Instant Happy Lips :)

Senna Cosmetics had a promotion giving out a free lip scrub with any $50 purchase. Looks like they're sold old, but no worries! You can create your own lip scrub. Simply mix a small concoction of

-sugar

-honey

-tiny plash of olive oil

Philippines Meet & Greet!

I Love the Philippines. Everyone are so polite, friendly, and hospitable. This has been the best Philippines trip I've gone on :) I have to say part of the reason is the meet and greet. I love meeting people who share the same interest as me. It was on overall great experience.

Dinner took place at Sumo Sam, a Japanese restaurant at the TriNoma Mall. The food was delicious! I hope everyone enjoyed their meals :) We ordered a few sushi platters, veggies, salads, fried rice. It was just perfect.

The whole point of the meet and greet is to get to know my viewers. A lot of these girls (and guy) are very talented. Amongst the crowd were singers, chefs, writers, entrepreneurs, and of course makeup artist :) Below I will include links of their youtube channels and blogs if you're interested.

I had the most incredible time at the meet and greet. Thank you to everyone who came out :)

Lauren Conrad's loose updo was requested many times on my Facebook. Many celebrities have sported this similar look on red carpet events. This look may be a bit time consuming, but again well worth it! Here's my interpretation of the look.

What you'll need:

- hot rollers

- heat protectant

- bobbi pins

- hair spray

First curl your hair with hot rollers

Once you remove the rollers, section your hair in half.

Use your fingers to roll your hair up, then pin down.

Selena Gomez has beautiful thick hair, and a great sense of style when it comes to hair. She has been sporting the voluminous side ponytail for awhile now. You can recreate her look even if you lack her gorgeous thick locks! Here is what you'll need:

- 1/2 inch curling iron

- Heat protectant

- hair spray

- hair tie

- rat tail comb/ teasing comb

Add heat protectant to your hair


Curl your hair with a curling iron. Interchange the direction of each curl

Apply dry shampoo to add texture

Tease the hair around the crown and temples

Your hair should look voluminous like this

Put your hair to a side ponytail, then lift your hair to your desired volume with a rat tail comb

Pull out some strands of hair, and there ya have it. A Selena Gomez inspired side ponytail!

White Underarms/ Armpits

I know this is an odd subject, and maybe even embarrassing to some, however my armpits seem to strike up a conversation through my video comments:

I wish I can tell you what it is I do to keep my underarms so clean, but I guess you can say its what I don't do. Surfing the net, I found that most women suffer dark underarms due to harsh deodorant and shaving. I don't use deodorant, nor do I shave. I know, sounds weird, but I guess I was blessed to not have body odor and thick hair! I have very thin, few hairs under my arms that I just leave them. Sounds sick right? haha

If you are suffering from dark underarms there are a few remedies you might want to try. Try rubbing lemon in circular motions after your shower. I hear some people may be allergic, so try a small amount at first. Another tip is papaya soap. I remember papaya soap was sold all over Philippines. Many Filipinos love to have that white skin ;) You should also try exfoliating under the arms every time you shower. You can find loofah's for only $1. Here is an article I found on the web that may be helpful as well.

Instant Long Locks for Special Occasions

Short hair gals, don't you want to switch it up every now and then? Heres a quick trick to getting those long gorgeous locks, hair extensions! I received these Jessica Simpson Hair-do hair extensions awhile back from voguewigs.com .

My friend Michelle was the perfect candidate for the extensions. She had long hair in the past, but hated the maintenance of it. It took a good 1 minute to to clip them on. Here's the process:

Step 1: Curl your natural hair. Use a 1'' curling iron or flat iron.

Step 2: Clip up the top section of your hair

The extensions have six clips

Step 3: Clip on your extensions

Step 4: Release the top section of hair, and allow it to blend in

at the end of the clip you'll see my girls and I goofin off ;)

I highly recommend these extensions if you're looking for some instant long locks on a special occasion. They're easy to put on, and stays on nice and secure all day. At the office, you want to look awake and fresh, without overdoing it with too much makeup! Here i'll show you a natural looking makeup tutorial using cosmetics you can find at your local drugstore.

For this tutorial, I used a few high end cosmetics, but

mainly drugstore.

- L'oreal Voluminous black mascara

You don't have to dish out a lot of money for good makeup! Also keep your eye on out drugstore sales. I read our rite aid weekly to make sure I'm getting the best deal. Just the other day I bought a bunch of L'oreal makeup buy one get one half off. I took advantage of that one!

Try this natural makeup look for yourself at work tomorrow. Remember to add some color every now and then. Maybe try some plum, or red lips on Fridays!

Loreal Infallible Never Fail Lip colour Experiment/Review

There is nothing I despise more than makeup touch-ups. I've gone through plenty of long last lipsticks, but the winner goes to Loreal Paris' Infallible Never Fail Lip Colours! The color I have is in Beyonce Red. After trying this one, i'm going back for more colors :) Here is a day's experiment using the lipstick.


This is my first time trying the lipstick. Can you tell how excited I was. hehe

I recommend you exfoliate your lips before applying the lipstick. You can exfoliate by rubbing a mixture of sugar and honey to your lips. Exfoliating will create a smooth surface for the lipstick.

10:00AM - lipstick just applied

1:00PM - After lunch. I had an artichoke and chicken salad. The dressing was artichoke oil.

11:00PM - End of the day, after dinner

Here is a close up of the above shot. For the most part, the lipstick hung on! There was some chipping in the outer corners.

I recommend this product if you're looking for a long last lipstick. This retails for $8.50 at Walmart.

Festive Holiday Makeup using NYX Cosmetics

NYX! Where have you been all my life?! I wasn't completely a NYX lover until now. Wow I'm loving the new Soho Glam Collection palette. Theres a great mix of colors, PRACTICAL colors might I add! The consistency and pigmentation is awesome. I love me some MAC cosmetics, but it can be pricey. The Soho Glam Collection is basically the cost of 2 MAC eyeshadows! This is the perfect palette for someone who travels often or for a beginner. The palette comes with lipglosses, lipstick, and blushes as well. Retailing for only $30.

The gold pigment is MAC reflects Gold

Everything but the lip glosses are great. The glosses lacked pigmentation and while I was applying it, there was barely any product on the applicator. I can do without it to be honest.

Bad Girls Club's Lea inspired makeup

Oxygen's Bad Girls Club is my favorite reality show! Its filled with so much drama, basically a train wreck you can't look away! Lea takes the crown for being the "Baddest" girl in the house. She doesn't let anyone get in her way, and is always looking for trouble. The show wouldn't be the same without her. I'm looking forward to the second part of the reunion which airs tomorrow on Oxygen :)

Date Night! Winery & Harry Potter

I love date nights, it keeps our relationship fun and fresh :D Tonight's date night Benji found an awesome deal from travelzoo to a local Winery called Covington Cellars. It was a package for 2, only $40 which normally cost $100! What a steal! Our experience was great. The Covington Cellars team were so sweet. We really felt welcomed. We hit up Harry Potter afterward at a nearby theater. What a perfect date night!

Eyes Lips Face Stocking Stuffers

I don't know what it is, but I'm totally in the E.L.F phase! I just purchased some e.l.f. online twice this past month. Then I saw these gift sets at Target. I couldn't pass up a great deal, and I wanted to share it with all of you! I bought the 32 eyeshadow palette for $5, the three nail polish set for $3, and a liquid eyeliner for $1. Here are my thoughts.

pretty good selection of colors. Neutrals, smokey, and brights.

Some colors came out sheer, while others were highly pigmented

Here are a few swatches. I used urban decay primer potion as a base

This is the $3 nail polish set. I could care less for the first two. The polish doesn't go on as glittery and shiny as it looks. However, the red nail polish in "cranberry" has just the right finish and a slight glimmer.

Here is a quick look I put together using the palette. Watch the video below for the tutorial.

For the rest of the face I used MAC blush in "breath of plum", Wet n Wild lipstick in "912C" and Bobbi Brown lip tint in "bare shimmer"

E.L.F. Open Box Review

I stumbled across the eyes lips face website the other day and was thrilled to see their 50% off all eye products promotion! I ordered seven products: an eyeshadow palette, brow tamer, brow pencil/highlighter, Pen liner, brow duo, eyeshadow primer, and cream liner.

The eyeshadow palette was on sale for $2.50. The Pen liner was on sale for .50 cents. The rest of the products were on sale for $1.50. There were a few products I could do without, but a few great finds I found for extremely great prices :)
